Police seek dashcam video after suspicious death in Vernon

September 3, 2026 - Vernon North Okanagan RCMP say they are investigating a suspicious death after a 54-year-old woman was found unresponsive in a basement suite on 24th Avenue. RCMP officers responded on the evening of Monday, August 24.

Police say criminality is suspected. The detachment’s Serious Crime Unit has been on the file from the start.

“As the team continues to follow up on all relevant information, police are reaching out to the public for assistance with this investigation,” said Cpl. Tania Finn, media relations officer for Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.

Investigators are looking for dashboard-camera video from 24th Avenue between 34th Street and 39th Street, from 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 22, to 7:00 p.m. Monday, August 24.

Anyone with footage from that time and area is asked to call the Vernon RCMP detachment at 250-545-7171.

Police say the investigation is in its early stages and no further details will be released at this time.
