Vernon Alliance Church to gather Sunday at Rec Centre

September 4 2026 - Vernon Alliance Church says its congregation will gather this Sunday, September 6, for one service at 10:00 a.m. at the Creekside Conference Centre in the Rec Centre at 3310 37 Avenue.

The church posted the update September 3 and said it is looking forward to being together for worship and prayer.

There will be no kids programming, but families are welcome.

Pastor Jason, in a video on the church’s Facebook page, said there is no new information on damage or the cause of the fire.

He asked people not to speculate and to keep the focus on the church’s work in the city.

He also said the Arbor building was not damaged and that local outreach programs, including Common Threads and Family Pantry, will resume Thursday, September 10.

New photos show heavy damage to a large section of the roof and interior: part of the roof burned through and collapsed, another stretch of roofing burned away with wood exposed, and charred debris inside.

The front entrance and church sign remain standing, with yellow tape across the property.

Jason thanked churches and residents in Vernon, and supporters across the country, and asked for continued prayer as the church works through decisions and details in the coming days.
