Charges approved after Highway 1 pursuit ends on Bruhn Bridge
September 10 2026 Salmon Arm - RCMP, in a press release, say a 34-year-old man is facing multiple charges after an alleged road-rage incident led to a pursuit that ended on the R.W. Bruhn Bridge in Sicamous.
Police allege that at 8:09 a.m. on Aug. 28 they received a report of a road-rage incident on the Trans-Canada Highway in Tappen.

A man allegedly got out of a red Honda Civic holding a machete in a threatening manner toward another driver, then got back in the vehicle and continued east.
Officers located the Honda and tried to stop it. The driver reportedly fled and was said to have committed numerous Motor Vehicle Act violations while continuing eastbound.
Sicamous RCMP set up a roadblock at the east end of the Bruhn Bridge. Police say the Honda tried to turn around on the bridge but was blocked in.
The RCMP release also says the driver fought officers and resisted arrest.
Four officers were needed to take him into custody.
The man was held for a bail hearing. RCMP later received charge approval for:
possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose
uttering threats
wilfully resisting a peace officer
flight from police while operating a vehicle
dangerous operation of a conveyance
The bridge was closed for a time Friday morning, Aug. 28, while police dealt with the incident.
No injuries were reported to officers or the other driver involved in the original call.
