Vernon, B.C. - Police Service Dog Norse, one of Vernon’s best-known K9s, was spotted enjoying some well-deserved downtime with his handler at a local Okanagan Lake boat launch Thursday afternoon.
The break consisted of a bit of bonding as Norse played a game of water fetch with his handler, Const. Devon Sivecki.
It looked like a well-earned break and some leg stretching for the hardworking dog.
Regular play sessions like this, especially swimming, are an important part of keeping police dogs physically fit and mentally sharp between calls.
Norse and his handler, Const. Devon Sivecki, joined the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP in early 2025, coming from New Westminster. Since arriving in Vernon, Norse has already made his mark on the job.
In June 2025, he successfully tracked and helped apprehend two suspects who fled on foot after their stolen truck was disabled by a spike belt on Westside Road. The pair was arrested without further incident.
Whether he’s tracking suspects through the bush or fetching toys in the lake, Norse continues to be a valued member of the Vernon RCMP team, and a local favourite.
