June 24 2026 - Vernon felt the heat on Wednesday as temperatures climbed to 33°C, making for one of the warmer June 24 days in recent memory.
While well above the typical mid-20s high for this time of year (long-term average around 24°C), the day did not break the daily record for June 24. For June 24, the record high remains 35.0°C, set in 1992
Earlier this week the heat wave packed more punch with Vernon hitting 36°C Tuesday.
Across British Columbia, the early-summer warm spell shattered or tied dozens of daily temperature records on Monday and Tuesday, with some marks standing for decades.
Coastal and interior communities alike pushed past 30°C, turning heads in a month that’s usually more moderate.
Relief is on the way
A cooler pattern is expected to move in over the next few days, bringing more typical June temperatures, increasing cloudiness, and a chance of showers or thunderstorms for parts of the province.
