Vehicle Crashes into Vernon Townhouse, Ruptures Gas Line

July 10 2026 - Some residents of the Birch Lane complex were briefly evacuated Thursday afternoon after a van crashed into a townhouse and ruptured a gas line.
The incident occurred around 3:45 p.m. in the 3800 block of 27th Avenue.
Emergency crews from Vernon Fire, RCMP, and BC Ambulance responded to the scene.No serious injuries were reported. One person identified by residents as the driver of the van was checked out by EHS at the scene.
27th Avenue was closed to traffic while crews worked the incident.
Residents were allowed to return to their homes once the gas line was shut off and the situation was deemed safe.
