December 25 2025 - Highway 3 is now open to through traffic between Hope and Princeton, but drivers should expect major delays as recovery work continues through Manning Park.

The Ministry of Transportation has also released an unusually detailed situational awareness map, outlining where damage occurred and where repairs are underway along the corridor.
The highway reopened following a major washout on December 16, located 42 kilometres east of the Highway 3/5 junction, after atmospheric river storms caused widespread flood damage.
Transportation officials say numerous sections of the mountain highway were washed out or undermined.
According to the ministry’s situational awareness map, damage is concentrated between Sunshine Valley and Allison Pass, with multiple slide areas, washouts, and active work zones identified along the corridor. Several of the most heavily damaged sites are clustered near the temporary detour now carrying traffic around the main washout.
Traffic is currently restricted to single-lane alternating flow on a temporary alignment, with a 30 km/h speed limit and traffic control in place. Commercial vehicles are being encouraged to use alternate routes until full two-lane travel can be restored.
Long-term repairs are expected to take months, and the detour will remain in place until permanent reconstruction is completed.
