Plow Ended Up in Ditch
December 21 2025 - A Yellowhead Road & Bridge Nicola snowplow was struck by a passing vehicle on the Coquihalla Highway today amid heavy snowfall, forcing the plow off the road and out of service.

In a social media post, YRB Nicola said the vehicle attempted to pass the working plow on the right, calling the move extremely dangerous for operators and other drivers. No injuries were reported, but the incident removed a critical piece of equipment during ongoing winter maintenance operations.
The collision occurred on Highway 5 between Hope and Merritt, where crews have been working continuously to keep the highway open during severe winter conditions.
YRB is reminding motorists to slow down, drive to conditions and never pass a working snowplow on the right.
