Single Vehicle Crash, Two Prohibitions

"It might seem a bit comical,” but two drivers face prohibitions after Vernon crash

“It might seem a bit comical at first, but it isn’t at all,” said Constable Chris Terleski of the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP, following a single-vehicle collision in Vernon that resulted in two impaired driving prohibitions.

RCMP were called to the intersection of Meadowlark Road and Pleasant Valley Road at approximately 9:15 p.m. on Monday, January 26, after a report of a crash. Police say no injuries were reported.

According to RCMP, while speaking with the driver at the scene, an officer suspected that the woman’s ability to operate her vehicle was affected by alcohol.

A roadside breath test resulted in a fail, leading to a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition and a 30-day vehicle impoundment.

That's when the situation took an unexpected turn

Police say the person who arrived to provide the driver with a ride home was also determined to be impaired.

That individual failed a roadside screening test and was also issued a 90-day Immediate Roadside Prohibition, with their vehicle impounded for 30 days.
