Kamloops, B.C.- BC Highway Patrol inspected more than 400 commercial trucks during a three-day, 24/7 enforcement blitz near Kamloops as part of the CVSA International Road Check.

The operation ran May 12–14, 2026.

Officers and partners conducted random inspections of clearly marked commercial vehicles licensed over 5,000 kg, focusing on the east and west sides of Kamloops and along Highway 5A.

Enforcement results showed a slight increase compared to 2025:

  • Violation tickets: 44 (up from 31)

  • Written warnings: 59 (up from 29)

  • Notices and Orders (repairs required): 38 (up from 28)

This year’s campaign emphasized cargo securement and Electronic Logging Device (ELD) tampering or falsification.

“The majority of commercial vehicles and drivers that we check are following the rules,” said Inspector Rob Nason, Officer in Charge of the BC Highway Patrol Central Region. “We want to support them by enforcing the law against operators who cut corners.”

The annual CVSA International Road Check brings agencies together across North America to improve commercial vehicle safety.
