Kullagh Creek Wildfire Burns Out of Control Near Stump Lake

June 17 2026 - A wildfire burning in the Kullagh Creek area at the north end of Stump Lake has grown to 149 hectares and remains out of control as of June 16, 2026.
The fire, designated K20570, is moving upslope through grass and brush along Highway 5.

Officials with the Thompson-Nicola Regional District have issued an Evacuation Order for properties in Kullagh Creek, requiring residents to leave immediately.
An Evacuation Alert has also been issued for the area, advising others to prepare to evacuate on short notice.
Seventy-one firefighters, along with aerial resources and heavy equipment, are responding to the blaze.
The cause remains under investigation.
No area restrictions are currently in place for the incident. Stump Lake is approximately 25–30 kilometres south of Kamloops.
