Wildfire Burning Out of Control Near Grasshopper Mountain

KAMLOOPS, B.C.- A new wildfire discovered Tuesday is burning out of control in a remote area of the Kamloops Fire Centre, prompting an evacuation alert for nearby residents.
The fire, designated K60575, was first reported on June 16, 2026, and has grown to 22 hectares as of the latest update at 6:13 p.m. PDT.

It is burning at Grasshopper Mountain in the Regional District of Okanagan-Similkameen, near the historic Hudson’s Bay Company (HBC) Heritage Trail and west of the small community of Tulameen.
The BC Wildfire Service has placed the blaze in the “Out of Control” stage.
No structures are believed to be at risk at this time.
An Evacuation Alert has been issued for a small number of rural properties along Lawless Creek Road and Tulameen River Road to give residents time to prepare for a possible evacuation order.
No area restrictions are currently in place, and the suspected cause remains under investigation.
