Cops for Kids on the road: Kamloops Friday, Vernon Saturday
Cops For Kids helps children and families facing a medical, physical or traumatic crisis.

September 17 2026 - It's that time of year again. The 2026 Cops for Kids Ride is already six days in, and the team is scheduled to arrive in Kamloops tomorrow and Vernon on Saturday.

The 10-day tour left Kelowna on Friday, September 11. It is presented by the Thomas Alan Budd Foundation.

The riders are volunteers from RCMP detachments, B.C. Sheriff Service, B.C. Corrections, Conservation Officer Service, and civilian supporters from across the Interior. They train for months and each raises a minimum of $2,500 to take part.

The purpose is in the name. Money raised helps children and families facing a medical, physical or traumatic crisis, travel to treatment, lodging, equipment, groceries and other costs that hit hard and fast.

By today the team has already ridden through Kelowna, Peachland, Summerland, Penticton, Oliver, Grand Forks, Castlegar, Nelson, Creston and Cranbrook.

Thursday’s published stops are Golden RCMP at 1:30 p.m. and Revelstoke RCMP at 3:30 p.m.

Remaining official community stops (Cops for Kids):

  • Friday, Sept. 18 — 8:30 a.m., Salmon Arm McDonald’s, 9 Ave S.W.

  • Friday, Sept. 18 — 4 p.m., Kamloops RCMP

  • Saturday, Sept. 19 — 3 p.m., Vernon RCMP

  • Sunday, Sept. 20 — 11:30 a.m., Ramada Hotel, Kelowna (finish)

Vernon is a stop, not a roll-through. The published time is 3 p.m. Saturday at the Vernon RCMP detachment.

The team then finishes in Kelowna on Sunday, so they overnight after the Vernon meet-and-greet.

If you see a group of cyclists in team kits with support vehicles, that is the ride.

Organizers ask motorists to give them room and pass safely. Horns, waves and a hello at the detachment are welcome.
