Boaters rescue exhausted bear cub from Okanagan Lake

September 17 2026 - A baby black bear struggling in the middle of Okanagan Lake was taken aboard a boat Saturday afternoon, September 12, after it was spotted trying to swim to shore near Adventure Bay.
Christina Zamniuk said the cub appeared exhausted and close to drowning when it got onto the back of the boat.
The cub got a ride toward shore, where it was pushed off, reached land, and disappeared toward the woods.
Zamniuk said she does not know where the mother was. She later reported the location to wildlife officials.
A video of the rescue circulated on Facebook, with viewers hoping the cub would find its mother.
