Pokémon fans line up in Vernon

September 16 2026 - By 7 a.m. Wednesday, two hours before opening, a line of camping chairs, blankets and early risers had already formed outside London Drugs at Vernon Square.

The Vernon store was one of many locations across B.C. that saw similar scenes as the Pokémon Trading Card Game’s 30th Celebration set went on sale.
The expansion marks 30 years of the Pokémon TCG with reprinted classic cards, new illustration rares, and a unique Pikachu in every pack.
Pokémon remains one of the world’s most valuable entertainment properties.
Strong nostalgia, limited print runs, and an active resale market for sealed product and rare pulls keep demand high, which is why collectors are still willing to sit on a sidewalk at 7 a.m., even in a smaller B.C. city like Vernon.
