Suspected human remains found in Yankee Flats area

September 15 Salmon Arm - RCMP are investigating the discovery of suspected human remains in a wooded area south of Salmon Arm.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP were dispatched to the location Sunday, Sept. 13, in the 2000 block of Yankee Flats Road.

Two civilian dog trainers discovered the remains while working in thick bush.

The investigation is continuing with support from RCMP Forensic Identification Services and the B.C. Coroners Service.

The Yankee Flats area has previously been linked to missing persons cases and the recovery of human remains in the broader Shuswap region.

Police have made no connection between this latest discovery and any previous cases.
