July 14, 2026 - The search for a missing Alberta man on Mara Lake has ended after five days with the recovery of his body.
Sicamous RCMP confirmed today that the RCMP Underwater Recovery Team (URT), supported by the RCMP National Underwater Recovery Training Centre (NURTC), located and recovered the body during continued operations.
The man was reported missing around 8:13 p.m. on Friday, July 10, after friends on a boat realized he was unaccounted for.
The multi-agency search, involving Sicamous RCMP, Shuswap Volunteer Search and Rescue, and specialized underwater teams, ran through the weekend and into Tuesday.

Sgt. Murray McNeil, Sicamous RCMP Detachment Commander, stated:
“Thank you to the URT, NURTC, Search and Rescue volunteers, and all partner agencies for their efforts throughout this operation. While this is a tragic outcome, we hope the recovery of the missing man brings some closure to his family and friends. Our thoughts remain with them during this difficult time.”
The incident involved a group of friends on a boat. It was initially misreported as a houseboat collision, but authorities later clarified there was no houseboat involved in the event that led to the man entering the water.
ExNews.net offers its deepest condolences to the man’s family and friends in Alberta and beyond.
