Wind and Rain Bring Minor Impacts to North Okanagan
December 17 2025 - A wind and rain system moved through the North Okanagan early Tuesday with relatively minor impacts.
Video from the area show utility crews at work, fallen tree branches on a vehicle, a large tree blocking a roadway, and wind damage including a church nativity scene blown over.
While conditions were largely uneventful, crews reported some pooling water, a handful of downed trees, and scattered debris.
By about 8 a.m., the system had moved on and cleanup efforts were already underway.
The most significant disruption was a power outage in the Silver Star Foothills area northeast of Vernon.

According to BC Hydro, a tree fell across power lines, knocking out electricity to 1,777 customers.
No injuries were reported.
