UPDATE: As of Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 4:04:44 PM the "Horseshoe Lake Wildfire" is classified as "Contained"
Original Story: The Wildfire burning north of Vernon is now being called the "Horseshoe Lake Wildfire".
Located to the west of Otter Lake and Armstrong it is still classified as "out of control" by BC Wildfire Service.
The fire (K41194), was first spotted Friday, July 7th shortly after a thunderstorm and lightning rolled through the area.
The fire's suspected cause is lightning.
As of 8 am July 8th, the fire size was estimated at just under 4 hectares.
Evacuation orders and alerts for the rural properties to the west of the mountaintop fire Friday July 7th have been rescinded.
There are no current evacuation orders or alerts associated with this incident at this time.
It has been a busy fire season in British Columbia.
