March 1 2026 - A police cruiser was left inoperable after being rammed by a stolen truck in the Salmon Arm area earlier this month.

According to the Salmon Arm RCMP, the incident began around 10:43 p.m. on Feb. 8 when a 2006 black Ford F-350 was reported stolen from a driveway in Blind Bay.
A family member followed the stolen truck eastbound on Blind Bay Road and was also being followed by a grey 2004 F-350, later confirmed stolen out of Kamloops.
Police caught up to the vehicles, but during the encounter the suspect driving the stolen black F-350 reversed into a police cruiser, disabling it, before fleeing. The truck was later found stuck in a ditch in Eagle Bay.
Mounties say a man and woman then ran up a driveway and stole a 2006 Ford dump truck. That vehicle was followed up a forest service road and later found abandoned.
In total, three vehicles are alleged to have been stolen over the course of the incident, the two Ford F-350 pickups and the Ford dump truck, all of which were later recovered by police.
With the help of Police Dog Services, officers tracked the suspects into a wooded area.
Just after 2 a.m., a woman called 911 reporting she had fallen down an embankment into a stream and believed she had broken her leg.
Officers located her after trekking over a kilometre through dense forest.
