Evacuation Order Issued for Christina Lake Area Due to Spaulding Creek Wildfire
Christina Lake, BC (September 29, 2024)
A tactical evacuation has been ordered for parts of Christina Lake, British Columbia, as the Spaulding Creek wildfire (#N62579) threatens the area. The Regional District of Kootenay-Boundary (RDKB) issued the evacuation order, impacting properties around Brown Road, Kensington Road, and Caitlin Road. Residents in these areas are urged to leave immediately for their safety.
The wildfire was first discovered on the morning of September 29, 2024, and has since grown to threaten local communities. The Southeast Fire Centre is actively responding to the situation. The blaze is currently classified as "Out of Control."
For those impacted, a reception center has been set up at the Christina Lake Community Hall located at 90 Park Road. Emergency Support Services (ESS) volunteers are expected to arrive by 4:30 PM PDT to assist evacuees.
An evacuation alert has also been issued for Texas Point and English Point, approximately 7 km north of the community hall, meaning residents in those areas should be prepared to leave at short notice.
