On Saturday evening, around 7 PM, Vernon Fire Rescue responded to reports of a mattress fire in a multi-dwelling building located in downtown Vernon.
The four-story structure, situated in the 2600 block of 35th Street, became the center of attention as firefighters battled both the blaze and challenging weather conditions.
The fire was successfully contained to a single unit within the building.
Fortunately, there have been no reports of injuries related to the incident.
Firefighters had to contend with adverse weather conditions, at the time of the fire the temperature was -20 degrees Celsius.
The emergency escalated to a three-alarm response, highlighting the complexity and seriousness of the situation.
The fire was declared out by 8:30 PM.
