Vernon Winter Carnival 2026 Begins

February 5 2026 - The 66th annual Vernon Winter Carnival officially kicks off tomorrow, Friday, February 6, 2026, launching 10 days of winter fun across Vernon and the North Okanagan.

Events are about to begin with the iconic VWC Balloon Glow Friday (Feb 6) at the Village Green Shopping Centre (27th Street at 48th Avenue).

The family-friendly evening runs from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm (admission by donation), featuring games, entertainment, vendors, and the highlight: glowing hot air balloons lighting up the night starting around 6:00 pm (weather permitting, for about 1.5 hours).

Saturday (Feb 7) brings the beloved VWC Parade, whose route goes down 27th Street south from 45th Avenue to 32nd Avenue.

The parade starts at 12:00 pm and runs until about 1:30 pm, celebrating the theme "Team Carnival, Canada Goes for Gold" with floats, marching bands, and lots of community spirit.

Sunday offers a relaxed start to the weekend's momentum, with various ongoing activities and events throughout the community (check the full lineup for specifics like family fun parks or other attractions).

The Vernon Winter Carnival takes place from February 6 to February 15 this year, packed with over 100 community-driven events like snow sculpting, bed races, chili cook-offs, and more.
