VERNON, B.C. - Last Tuesday evening (March 31st), Vernon Search and Rescue responded to five motorists stuck in deep snow in the Shorts Creek area.

As conditions worsened and darkness fell, the final kilometre became impassable by truck.
Crews switched to ATVs, cleared a fallen log blocking the trail with a chainsaw, and safely reached the group.
The five individuals were ferried down to warm vehicles, warmed up, and driven home by rescue members.
Officials praised the motorists for staying calm and using their iPhone SOS feature to call for help.
“Everyone was found safe — just a little cold and hungry,” VSAR reported.
