Families Pack Downtown Vernon for Frostival as Santa Makes His Big Arrival
November 27 2025 - Vernon’s second annual Frostival drew a strong crowd to 30th Avenue Thursday evening, as families filled the four-block festival zone for holiday music, street vendors and live performances.
Earlier in the day, a round of wet snow swept through the North Okanagan, but it didn’t cool spirits.
By late afternoon, hundreds, possibly more than a thousand people, were moving through the pedestrian-only corridor between 30th and 34th Streets. While there was no official attendance count, the turnout was clearly solid for the city’s young holiday tradition.
Buildings and trees along the downtown stretch were lit up for the festival, and the 3400-block main stage kept the crowd moving with party-style performances.
30th street was lined with vendors, décor displays and food trucks and a stage featuring live entertainment.
The Downtown Vernon Association had also designated the day as free parking throughout the core.
The highlight came near the end of the evening, when Santa made his highly anticipated arrival, a moment that drew families shoulder-to-shoulder near the stage area. Cheers and phones in the air marked the unofficial start of Vernon’s Christmas season.
A good time was had by all at the second annual Frostival, which the DVA launched in 2024 as a community “Kick Off to Christmas.”
