Vernon Fire Crews Knock Down Afternoon Blaze on 20th Street

October 29 2025 - Vernon Fire Rescue responded to a blaze in the 4400 block of 20th Street around 2:30 Wednesday afternoon after multiple calls came into dispatch.

The fire spread quickly along the outer western wall of what’s believed to be a two-unit duplex within a townhouse complex.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the flames appeared to get up under the eaves, with fire breaking through the roof before crews brought it under control.

Firefighters were on scene for several hours and had the situation fully wrapped up before 6 p.m.

No injuries have been reported, and all residents are accounted for. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
