UPDATE Sunday November 3:
The City of Vernon has provided an update regarding this mornings multi residential complex fire.
Most importantly, Vernon Fire Rescue Service rescued one person stranded on a balcony.
That quick action resulted in no reported injuries at the blaze.
When VFRS arrived on scene they found the building "fully engulfed in flames, with fire and smoke extending to the roof and neighboring suites."
"Extensive fire, smoke and water damage was sustained in six (6) units, as well as to a recreational trailer located in the parking lot in front of the building."
Residents remain evacuated until a damage assessment is completed.
Original Story: Sunday November 3, 2024: Vernon Fire Rescue responded to multiple reports of fire at the Crown Victoria residential complex in the 4000 Blk of 34th Street, Vernon.
When fire crews arrived shortly after 8:30 AM they found at least one unit in the building fully involved.
RCMP coordend off the area as fire crews attended to the blaze and evacuated the building.
Smoke could also be seen coming from vents along the structures roof.
No cause or reports of injuries at this time. BC Ambulance crews also attended.
