Vernon Firefighters Local 1517 Publish Statement

July 10 2026 - This morning, Vernon Fire Rescue Services made quick work of a grass fire on Turtle Mountain, knocking it down before it could spread. The roughly 0.5-hectare blaze never got close enough to directly threaten the many homes on the mountain, though the outcome might have been different had crews not moved quickly through the difficult terrain to extinguish it.
