Pleasant Valley Traffic is flowing at Vernon’s 39th Ave intersection


September 13 2025 - Sometimes it seems like the intersection at 39th Avenue and Pleasant Valley Road has been closed forever. Closed to traffic early March, 2025, In reality its been about 200 days give or take.

The project was aimed at replacing the four-way stop at this busy intersection with a modern single-lane roundabout to improve traffic flow and safety.



Budgeted at $4.83 million, the project boasts enhanced pedestrian crosswalks, anti-skid pavement, a dedicated left-turn lane to 20th Street, and upgraded drainage, sanitary, and water systems.


The City of Vernon opened the new roundabout marking a significant milestone for the community.


According to the City of Vernon, the project was funded by a total budget of $4.83 million, with the City of Vernon contributing $3.722 million and the Province of British Columbia providing $1.108 million through the Growing Communities Fund.


The City’s share includes $1,847,050 from Transportation Development Cost Charges, $1,550,000 from the 1.9% Infrastructure Levy, and $325,000 from Sewer Reserves, ensuring the project’s completion without reliance on additional taxpayer funds.
