Drone VIDEO: Highway 97 near Summerland, BC, has reopened to single-lane alternating traffic.
Much of the approximately 3,000 cubic meters of material that landed on a section of Highway 97 near Summerland on August 28th has been cleared.
Under the direction of the Ministry of Transportation crews have constructed a protective wall and berm between the cliff face and much of the roadway.
One lane has been opened allowing the traveling public safe passage along one of the Okanagans' most traveled highways
Travelers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes during peak hours.
Motorists are reminded the road might close again due to safety concerns, especially if there's heavy rainfall.
Detour routes are available, so ensure you have enough supplies and plan for limited cell phone coverage.
