Rain in the Valleys, Slushy Conditions Possible on Interior Highways

Okanagan drivers can expect rain on valley roads today and into Monday, but those travelling to the Coast or Alberta should be prepared for mixed conditions on mountain highways.

Wet snow early Sunday is changing to rain across the North and Central Okanagan, including Vernon and Kelowna, keeping city streets mainly wet. Rain continues overnight and into Monday with milder temperatures.

On major travel routes, slushy or wet snow remains possible, particularly Sunday. The Coquihalla Highway and the Okanagan Connector may see periods where precipitation falls as wet snow during heavier showers, especially near mountain summits. Conditions are expected to improve later Sunday night and Monday as milder air moves in.

Travellers heading west through the Fraser Canyon should expect rain, strong winds, and areas of reduced visibility, particularly near Boston Bar and Lytton.

Further south through Allison Pass and Manning Park, precipitation is expected to fall mainly as rain, with wet roads and reduced traction at times.

Drivers are encouraged to monitor DriveBC conditions, allow extra travel time, and be prepared for changing weather on higher-elevation routes.
