June 19, 2026 - Residents in several neighbourhoods supplied by Greater Vernon Water are under a precautionary Boil Water Notice after an unexpected loss of water pressure during an infrastructure project.

In coordination with Interior Health, the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) issued the notice on June 18 affecting specific addresses along Aberdeen Road, Matner Lane, Rendell Drive, Shamanski Drive, and Heritage Lane.

Crews were performing routine infrastructure improvements when they had to shut off the water main, causing a temporary drop in pressure.

Although the water system’s overall treatment levels were maintained, the pressure loss prompted the precautionary measure as a safety step until water quality testing confirms the supply is safe.

What residents should do:

  • Boil water for at least one minute before drinking, preparing food, making ice or beverages, washing fruits and vegetables, or brushing teeth.

  • When water service resumes, run cold taps until the water clears to flush out any discolouration or air.

  • Residents may also experience reduced water pressure temporarily.

The Boil Water Notice remains in effect until RDNO and Interior Health confirm the system is safe.
