Vernon, B.C. - Category 2 and Category 3 open burning is now banned in the City of Vernon.

The prohibition, which took effect at noon on Thursday, May 7, was implemented in coordination with the Kamloops Fire Centre. It will remain in place until October 19, 2026, or until it is lifted.

The measure aims to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.
