Gas prices in the North Okanagan have recently resembled a rollercoaster ride, with sharp swings over a matter of days.
January 2 2025 - As of early January 2026, regular unleaded prices in the region, particularly in Vernon, have fluctuated significantly. In the days leading up to the end of December, prices dropped to around 120.9 cents per litre at many stations.

However, overnight on December 31, 2025, prices rebounded at most stations, sharply jumping by roughly 11 cents per litre, with most stations posting prices near 131.9 cents per litre on January 1, 2026.
Another shift followed just as quickly.
As of January 2, 2026, at the time of writing, prices have begun to ease again. A survey of stations shows some locations now posting prices in the 121.9 to 124.9 cents per litre range, well below the January 1 highs, while many others remain clustered at the higher end.
This spread highlights the clear divide between discount-oriented stations and standard posted prices across the region.
