North Okanagan mayoral races set after nomination deadline

September 12 2026 - Voters in Vernon, Coldstream, Armstrong and Lumby will choose new or returning mayors on Oct. 17 after nominations closed at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 11.

Candidates still have until 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 to withdraw.

In Vernon, four names are on the official city candidate list: incumbent Mayor Victor Cumming, Coun. Kari Gares, former mayor Wayne Lippert and Jerrod Stephenson.

The City of Vernon posted the list on its candidate page and notes the Notice of Election is the official record.

Coldstream’s Chief Election Officer declared two mayoral candidates on Sept. 11: incumbent Mayor Ruth Hoyte and Carey Collinge.

The District published that declaration on its website.

Armstrong and Lumby have not posted standalone declaration pages comparable to Vernon and Coldstream.

CivicInfo BC, which collects names directly from local Chief Election Officers and is linked from Lumby’s elections page, lists four Armstrong mayoral candidates: incumbent Joe Cramer, former mayors Chris Pieper and John Trainor, and Garhen Avalokiteshvara.

In Lumby, incumbent Kevin Acton faces Bradley Weston.

Advance voting begins in early October. Official ballots will be confirmed after the Sept. 18 withdrawal deadline.
