Nomination window for Vernon’s 2026 civic election closes Friday at 4 p.m.
September 11 2026 - Anyone hoping to run for mayor or councillor in Vernon’s 2026 general local election has until 4 p.m. today, Friday, Sept. 11 to file nomination papers.
Papers must be submitted in person to the chief election officer at Vernon City Hall, 3400 – 30th Street.
The city is urging would-be candidates to book an appointment first by emailing elections@vernon.ca or calling 250-550-3536 so staff can review materials in advance.
Each candidate needs the signatures of 10 eligible voters.
To run, a person must be a Canadian citizen, be at least 18 on voting day, have lived in British Columbia for at least six months before filing, and not be otherwise disqualified.
