Multi-Vehicle Crash Blocks Highway 97 in Vernon

February 17 2026 - A late-night crash shut down traffic in both directions on Highway 97 in Vernon Tuesday.
Shortly after 11 p.m. on February 17, emergency crews were called to the intersection of Highway 97 and Meadowlark Road for what was described as a multi-vehicle incident.
Details remain limited, but it’s believed the situation began when a vehicle knocked over a streetlight, which fell across the highway. Several vehicles not involved in the initial crash reportedly struck the downed light, with some losing control.
Multiple vehicles sustained damage, including an empty logging truck seen with front-end and wheel damage.
Members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, BX Fire Rescue and BC Emergency Health Services responded to the scene.
The extent of injuries, if any, has not been confirmed.
