Lumby Shooting Update: Victim Dies, Investigation Now Death Probe
Lumby, BC, March 7, 2026Â - The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP has confirmed that the 60-year-old man shot on Schwartz Road in Lumby on March 3 has died.

According to a media release from Staff Sgt. Kris Clark, the victim, identified as Corey Ott of Lumby, was transported to hospital with what were initially described as non-life-threatening gunshot wounds.

Ott underwent surgery but died in hospital.
A suspect was arrested safely around 7 p.m. on March 3 with assistance from the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and was held pending further investigation.
That individual has since been released without charges.

The case has been transferred to the BC RCMP Southeast District Major Crime Unit, which is now conducting a death investigation.
Investigators are appealing to the public for assistance:
Any video footage from the Lumby area on March 3 between noon and 8 p.m.
Information from anyone who had communication with or dealings with Corey Ott on March 3 or in the days leading up to the incident.
RCMP is also asking anyone with information is asked to contact the Southeast District Major Crime Unit Information line at 1-877-987-8477.
The investigation is ongoing.
