UPDATE July 23, 2026 - The Trinity Valley wildfire (K41106) is now "Being Held" according to the BC Wildfire Service. At the last estimate, the fire was 6.75 hectares.

July 22 2026 LUMBY, B.C. - Firefighters from Lumby and the BC Wildfire Service responded swiftly Wednesday afternoon to a fire on a rural ranch property in the 1300 block of Trinity Valley Road, roughly 17 kilometres north of Lumby.

Reports of the fire, now known as the Trinity Creek wildfire, came in after 3 p.m. on July 22.

The property includes several large structures and adjacent timber, and crews worked throughout the afternoon and into the early evening to contain the blaze.

Lumby Fire Department personnel handled ground operations around the structures, while BC Wildfire Service resources attacked the fire from the air.

Witnesses reported one air tanker, a Bird Dog aircraft, and two bucketing helicopters actively dropping retardant and water on the fire and surrounding vegetation.

As of Wednesday evening, the fire had been mapped at approximately 1.4 hectares and remained classified as out of control.

Officials believe it is human-caused. No injuries have been reported, and there has been no official confirmation on whether a structure or primarily vegetation was involved.

BC Ambulance Service and RCMP were also on scene as part of the coordinated response.
