Lake Country grass fire temporarily closes Berry Road near Highway 97

July 29 2026 Lake Country - Calls began coming into 911 just after 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 29, about a fast-moving grass fire visible to morning commuters.

The blaze prompted the temporary closure of Berry Road just west of Highway 97.
Crews from all three Lake Country fire halls were dispatched.
Once on scene, firefighters quickly doused the fire and remained at the fire wetting down the surrounding ground to prevent any rekindling.
No injuries were reported and no official cause has been released at this time.
