One Man Missing After Houseboat Incident on Mara Lake


July 10 2026 - Search teams scoured the south end of Mara Lake late Friday night after a man went into the water during an apparent collision involving a houseboat.

The incident was reported to authorities just after 8 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026. RCMP, Shuswap Volunteer Search and Rescue (SVSAR), and BC Ambulance Service responded

to the scene.


Multiple rescue boats, including vessels from both RCMP and SVSAR, searched the lake’s southwestern shoreline for the missing man.


As darkness fell and rain began, ground teams also joined the effort along the rail trail, with some searchers on quads and others on foot.


There was no immediate official information on the number of people aboard the houseboat, whether any injuries occurred, or what exactly led to the man entering the water.
