Thursday, October 27th, 2022:
The possibility of a Coldstream fireworks display on Halloween 2022 looks very good, thanks to cooler damper weather continuing into next week
As it stands now, we will have to wait until tomorrow/Friday for the District of Coldstream's
official decision.
The dry spell that stretched well into the beginning of October had city officials concerned the risk of igniting a fire was too great. But, according to forecasts from Environment Canada, that dry spell is behind us.
If the Fireworks display gets a go the rockets will be launched from the pier at Kal beach.
A great location that is visible from many vantage points.
It's been a while since Coldstream residents enjoyed an "official" fireworks show.
There have been "unofficial" fireworks displays in Coldstream though, like the one captured in a video from 2021.
If you don't have permits there are fines. Selling or discharging fireworks could set you back around $200 dollars
City-sanctioned displays in 2020 and 2021 were canceled due to COVID restrictions.
The Coldstream and Lavington fire halls will likely be putting on the show.
If all goes well, it should be a good one too. Funds set aside from previous years have been carried forward to 2022.
