Mutual Aid Enacted, 3rd Alarm Called
December 24 2025 - An early morning fire call sent BX/Swan Lake Fire Rescue crews to a Vernon Kia dealership in the 6300 block of Highway 97 shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday morning.

When firefighters arrived, at least half a dozen vehicles were fully involved. The vehicles were parked close together in the dealership’s rear lot.
Due to the size of the blaze, BX/Swan Lake Fire Rescue requested mutual aid assistance from Vernon Fire Rescue.
A third alarm was called to bring in additional manpower to support crews working the fire and to maintain fire protection coverage for the region.
The dealership building does not appear to have sustained any damage; however, this has not been confirmed.
Some of the vehicles involved appeared to have licence plates while others did not, and it is unknown whether the vehicles were new or used. No injuries were reported.
During the response, an alarm was reported at nearby Vernon Christian School, prompting a response by BX/Swan Lake Fire Rescue crews. That alarm was quickly determined to be false.
Later Wednesday morning, fire crews returned to continue investigating the blaze. The cause of the fire has not been released, and there is no official word on whether the incident is considered suspicious.
BX/Swan Lake Fire Rescue, Vernon Fire Rescue, RCMP, BC Ambulance attended.
