It looked like smoke from wildfires had returned but the thick clouds were actually wind-blown dust
Strong winds whipped up a significant amount of dust, enveloping homes along Kalamalka Drive early Saturday evening.
It appears that the winds carried dried earth from unplanted fields to the east, creating a mini dust storm.
Prolonged exposure to these dust particles can irritate the respiratory system, leading to respiratory issues, especially for individuals with pre-existing conditions such as asthma or allergies.
Fortunately, most of the dust cleared in less than an hour after the wind subsided somewhat.
