Kamloops Search and Rescue Shares Details of Successful Dirt Biker Long Line Rescue
April 14 2026 - Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) has shared details of a long but successful operation Monday that saved an injured dirt bike rider south of Kamloops near Duffy Lake.
The team was tasked shortly after 2 p.m. Thirteen members responded, using a UTV before hiking nearly 3 km over tough terrain with supplies and equipment.
KSAR’s medical team reached the rider at 17:14 and, together with an RCMP medic and BCEHS paramedic, stabilized him on scene.
Due to the challenging location, Air Rescue One helicopter from Vernon was called in for a winch extraction. The patient was handed over to BCEHS just after 8 p.m. in stable condition with a lower limb injury and transported to hospital in Kamloops.
The teams hiked out and returned home just before midnight.
The rescue it credited to strong teamwork between KSAR, BCEHS, RCMP, Air Rescue One, and the Vernon Search and Rescue Group Society.
