Crash Closes Coquihalla Near Helmer Road

Monday November 10 2025 - Traffic on the Coquihalla Highway is disrupted following a serious crash that has closed the highway near Helmer Road, north of Merritt.

Multiple ground ambulances have been dispatched to the scene, along with a BC Air Ambulance.

Reports from the scene say at least one vehicle is off the road.

According to DriveBC, Highway 5 is affected between Exit 286 (Merritt – Highway 97C) and Exit 336 (Walloper Interchange), a stretch of roughly 50 kilometres.

Current conditions in the area include slippery sections, with the last update posted about two hours ago.
