Coldstream Grass Fire Threatens Home on Canada Day

COLDSTREAM, B.C. - Firefighters from Coldstream and Lavington rapidly knocked down a fast-moving grass fire Wednesday afternoon that briefly threatened a residence near the Coldstream Rail Trail.

Multiple 911 calls began pouring in around 2 p.m. on Canada Day as smoke and flames were reported near the start of the trail. One witness described the blaze at one point as “a wall of flame” racing through dry grass toward a home in the 8300 block of Stone Ridge Drive.
Crews from Coldstream Fire Department, supported by one engine from Lavington, responded quickly with a total of five pieces of apparatus.
Firefighters stopped the flames before they reached the residence. Crew spent several hours on scene completing mop-up operations.
No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire remains undetermined.
