Updated: Oct 15

Shortly after 8:30 PM, Friday July 19/24, the Coldstream Fire Hall received reports of a motor vehicle incident in the 5800 block of Cosens Bay Road.

Minutes later, the car was reported to be on fire.

The next update reported that a person had been thrown from the vehicle.

Once on scene, emergency responders found that the vehicle had left the road and ended up approximately 200 feet down a steep bank.

They also learned there was a second person in the vehicle. The second person was later found a short distance from the crash scene.

Last night, as darkness fell, crews climbed down to the car to extinguish a small fire and search for other occupants.

The approaching darkness and tough terrain made the job harder.

The person believed to be the driver was taken away by BC Ambulance.

RCMP, Lavington Fire Hall, and BC EHS were also on scene.
