BX Swan Lake Fire Hall Quickly Extinguishes Grass Fire Possibly Sparked by Car Blaze

July 18.2025: A grass fire possibly ignited by a vehicle fire on French Road, above Vernon and near the fire training center, was swiftly brought under control by crews from BX Swan Lake Fire Hall Friday evening.
The first signs of smoke were captured on a doorbell camera just after 6 p.m. The fire spread rapidly, with thick smoke becoming visible from several kilometres away.
Multiple trucks from BX Swan Lake Fire Hall responded to the scene, along with RCMP.
There is no confirmation yet on whether if a driver or owner of the vehicle was present when emergency crews arrived at the incident.
The fire was declared extinguished shortly after 7 p.m., and the burned vehicle was removed from the scene.
