Structure fire sends smoke high over Vernon

September 7 2026 - BX Swan Lake Fire Hall responded to a structure fire in the 6600 block of Raven Road about noon Monday, September 7, 2026.
Thick black smoke rose hundreds of metres into the sky and could be seen from all over Vernon.
Crews were concerned the fast-moving blaze may have been threatening other buildings on the property, which has several structures.
Mutual aid was enacted, with Vernon Fire Rescue sending additional firefighters and equipment. BX Fire, Vernon Fire, BC Hydro, and RCMP also attended.
Tender/tanker trucks travelled back and forth along Goose Lake Road to replenish water at the scene.
The cause of the fire and the type of structure involved have not been confirmed.
There are no reports of injuries. Goose Lake Road and Raven Road were blocked to keep onlookers away from working fire crews.
